Princess Mary is played by Emily Blunt in the 2010 film adaptation of Gulliver's Travels.

Character description[]

Horatio who was jailed by General Edward because he loves Princess Mary of Lilliput, despite Edward also pursuing her. After the island across from Lilliput, Blefuscia, orders some commandos to kidnap Princess Mary, Gulliver breaks free of the plough-machine he is forced to work and rescues the princess from being kidnapped. Gulliver also saves her father, King Theodore, from a fire by urinating on it.

  • The Princess is named after Mary Burton, the newlywed of Lemuel Gulliver from the original story.
  • Sarah Michelle Gellar was considered to play Princess Mary.
  • Playing a Princess, Emily Blunt felt this was her "girliest" role thus far in her career.
  • Emily Blunt and James Cordon would later reunite 4 years later in Rob Marshall's Into The Woods(2014) as husband and wife.
  • Jack Black appeared opposite Karen Gillan in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)/Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). Gillan played Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Emily Blunt was originally cast as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in Iron Man 2 (2010), but dropped out to do this movie.
  • Speaking of Emily Blunt originally cast as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 (2010), she had to drop out due to her commitment to this film. In a May 11, 2021 appearance on The Howard Stern Show (radio), Blunt told Howard Stern that she was forced by contractual obligation to appear, because of a two-picture deal with Fox when she starred in The Devil Wears Prada (2006).
